All restaurants in Volcano Village are locally owned, and you will not find any big chain restaurants nearby. Food here is a bit more expensive compared to other places on the Big Island, but the quality of the food is good and the locals are friendly. Considering the alternative of a long drive to Hilo and the great scenery, we heartily recommend dining in Volcano.

Other restaurants in Volcano Village
There are a few more options for breakfast/lunch/dinner in Volcano Village, but they don’t get as good press as the places listed above.
- Lava Rock Cafe: Old Volcano Rd, Volcano, Island of Hawaii, HI 96785 | 1 (808) 967 8526 | $10 – $20
- The Rim: newly opened restaurant in the Volcano House (inside the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park). Right now (late 2013), the food is not the best reason to visit, but the view certainly is! Crater Rim Drive, Hawaii National Park, HI 96718 | 1 (808) 756-9625 | (website)
- Big O’s: Inside the Kilauea General Store at 19-3972 Old Volcano Rd. You can get Pizza and sandwiches here. Pizza takes about 30 minutes.
- Lanikai Brewery: Lanikai Brewing Company from Oahu opened their brewpub in 2025. Our first visit was underwhelming (small portions and a long wait) but other people report more positive experiences. Perhaps worth a try? (website).
