# Read more about the Umaumua Falls Zipline Tour
The triple-tier Umauma Falls has a viewing shelter positioned above the main drop. General visitors to the falls cannot reach it. The only access is through the zipline tour, which routes guests there as part of the course.
What the nine lines cover
The first four lines are dual lines, meaning you zip side-by-side rather than solo. Line 4 is the longest at over 2,000 feet, running above the Umauma River with the Pacific visible on the horizon. A 200-foot suspension bridge between lines 4 and 5 crosses over a water-filled lava tube and fern grotto. At line 7, you get a close-up view of the dual waterfall section of the falls. Line 9 returns you to the Visitors Center, completing the circuit. Nine lines total, 2 miles of ziplining, speeds up to 65 mph. Very little walking is required between platforms.
What makes this course work well for first-timers is the braking: the system is hands-free, with speed managed automatically. There is nothing to grip, pull, or time mid-flight. Reviewers who came in nervous consistently say this changed the experience. The guides handle the rest. Across nearly 2,000 reviews on three platforms, they are the first thing most guests mention: patient at the platform edge, unhurried with people who need a moment before the drop.
Before you book
Minimum age is 4; weight limits are 35 to 275 lbs. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The physical requirement is moderate: you need to be able to climb three flights of stairs and walk short distances between platforms. Pregnant women and anyone with serious medical conditions or prior back or neck injuries cannot participate. Closed-toe shoes are required. The course runs rain or shine, with rainwear provided. Check in 45 minutes before your tour time.
From Line 2, the course pauses at a point with a direct sightline toward Mauna Kea and a 100-foot waterfall that most Big Island residents have never seen from this angle. Upside-down is allowed on the lines, and the guides are prepared for it. This tour is also available as the Zip n Dip experience, which adds a swim at a private pond and waterfall on the property.
Adult rate: $249. Child rate (ages 4-10): $239. Duration: 1.5 - 3 hours.
ps: if you like swimming under waterfalls: This tour is also available as a “Zip n Dip” experience, which includes a relaxing swim at the private pond and nearby waterfall.
