About the Kapa Moe Lūʻau
The Ritz-Carlton Maui in Kapalua runs the newest luau on the island, on Tuesdays and Fridays. Book it for the food, not the show: dinner is a buffet with a poke station and island dishes, while the bigger resort luaus serve dinner on banquet trays. Drinks are included, and the bar usually closes once dinner is served.
The pre-show welcome and kids’ activities
At the door, guests get a lei and a drink. For keiki (children), there are ukulele lessons, temporary tattoos, and a family photo before the show starts. The seating has more room than the older Maui shows like the Old Lāhainā Lūʻau, so it’s easier with young kids.
The Kapa Moe show and fire-knife finale
A host narrates the Kapa Moe (sleeping kapa, or bark-cloth) story, a set of Hawaiian creation themes told in hula and chant, backed by a live band. An aerial pole routine and a fire-knife dance close the show. The evening runs 3 hours, from the welcome through the finale.
Aliʻi Premium and Ohana seating
Both tiers see the same show; they differ in where you sit and when you check in.
Aliʻi Premium
Aliʻi Premium seats are the front two rows and come with a specialty lei and early entry, with check-in at 5:15pm. Those front rows face the setting sun, so at the 5:30pm start it can be in your eyes during the opening.
Ohana
Ohana is general seating behind the Aliʻi rows, with check-in at 5:30pm. The standard adult rate is $263.94.
Parking, check-in, and cancellation
The luau is held in the Aloha Garden Pavilion at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, 1 Ritz-Carlton Dr in Kapalua, on West Maui. Valet parking at the front drive is free. There’s no hotel pickup or shuttle, so plan to drive yourself. Free cancellation runs up to 48 hours before the show; inside that window the booking is non-refundable. Your exact check-in point and any updated timing come with the booking confirmation.
Who this luau is for
It’s a good pick for food-focused couples and for families with young kids, who get their own kids’ menu.
The Aloha Garden Pavilion is covered and set back in the resort gardens, with no ocean or sunset behind the stage.
It costs more than most Maui luaus, and the show is built around storytelling, so skip it if you came for a loud drums-and-fire spectacle. As the newest luau on Maui, it has the fewest reviews so far.
About The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua
The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua has a long-standing Hawaiian cultural program behind the show. Its cultural advisor, Clifford Naeʻole, has run the resort’s Hawaiian history and hula programming for decades. When construction began in 1987, workers uncovered a Hawaiian burial ground on the coast, so the hotel was moved inland and the Honokahua Preservation Site was set aside, a case that helped shape Hawaiʻi’s burial-protection law. The luau runs in the resort’s Aloha Garden Pavilion.
