The custom-built rafts run along the Nā Pali Coast past lava tubes, sea caves, waterfalls and beaches. The boat also stops at a reef for about 40 minutes of snorkeling.
This tour operates seasonally from April through October. The ride can be rainy, windy, bumpy and wet. If that doesn’t suit you, Holoholo Charters also runs catamaran tours from Port Allen.
Your boat is a custom-built rigid-hull inflatable (RHIB), designed for the run from Hanalei to the Nā Pali Coast. It has twin 225hp outboard motors, forward-facing bench seats (so you’re not sitting sideways craning your neck), a marine head (bathroom), and a sunshade for when the boat is stopped.

Departure from Hanalei
Check-in is at Tahiti Nui Restaurant in Hanalei town. Staff hand out dry bags for your things, then shuttle you to Hanalei Bay.

The tour:
After a short briefing from the captain, the boat heads up the coast and you watch for spinner dolphins, turtles, sea birds, and sometimes goats on the cliffs. You’ll often spot hikers on the Kalalau Trail, a notoriously hard hike.

The crew narrates the history and legends of the coast, its wildlife, and how Kauaʻi formed. Ask the crew if you have a question or need anything on board.

Snorkeling!
Your captain picks the snorkel spot based on ocean conditions, and you snorkel for about 40 minutes. Fins, goggles and snorkels come in a range of sizes, and pool noodles are on board if you want extra flotation.
Lunch is usually at the snorkel spot: fresh deli-style sandwiches, chips, island juices and a Kauai Kookie. After lunch, the boat heads back to Hanalei Bay.
