Cancellations: All cruises and tours have a 24-hour notice of cancellation policy, and there is a 20% fee for rescheduling within 24-hour period. Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances (i.e. lack of participation). Weather conditions are decided at the boat dock.

North Shore Catamaran runs its whale watching cruises on the Hoʻo Nanea. On the Hoʻo Nanea you ride close to the water, and the catamaran is stable enough to watch whales from.
Few whale watching tours run out of Haleʻiwa, and this is the only commercial sailing catamaran on the North Shore. You won’t have a crowd of other boats around the whales.
Morning, early afternoon, and sunset whale watching times
Cruises run in the morning, in the early afternoon, and at sunset:
- Morning cruises: The early morning is the best time to go whale watching if seeing whales is all you care about. The wind often hasn’t picked up yet, so the ocean is calmer and whales are easier to spot at a distance.
- Early afternoon cruises: You keep the morning free and are back on shore in time for a short stop at a nearby beach before dinner.
- Sunset cruises: Book this cruise to watch the sunset from the water while you look for whales.
