About the Kapa Moe Lūʻau
The Ritz-Carlton Maui in Kapalua runs the newest luau on the island, on Tuesdays and Fridays. Book it for the food, not the show: dinner is a buffet with a poke station and fresh island cooking, while the bigger resort productions serve banquet trays. Drinks are included, and the bar usually closes once dinner is served.
The pre-show welcome and kids’ activities
At the door, guests get a lei and a drink. For keiki (children), there are ukulele lessons, temporary tattoos, and a family photo before the show starts. The seating has more room than the older Maui shows like the Old Lāhainā Lūʻau, so it’s easier with young kids.
The Kapa Moe show and fire-knife finale
The program is narrated. A host walks you through the Kapa Moe (sleeping kapa, or bark-cloth) story, moving through Hawaiian creation themes with hula and chant, backed by a live band. An aerial pole routine and a fire-knife dance close the show. The evening runs 3 hours, from the welcome through the finale.
Aliʻi Premium and Ohana seating
The show is the same from either tier. What changes is where you sit and when you check in.
Aliʻi Premium
Aliʻi Premium puts you in the front two rows and adds a specialty lei and early entry, with check-in at 5:15pm. Those front rows face the setting sun, so at the 5:30pm start it can be in your eyes during the opening.
Ohana
Ohana is general seating behind the Aliʻi rows, with check-in at 5:30pm. The standard adult rate is $263.94.

About The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua
The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua has a long-standing Hawaiian cultural program behind the show. Its cultural advisor, Clifford Naeʻole, has run the resort’s Hawaiian history and hula programming for decades. When construction began in 1987, workers uncovered a Hawaiian burial ground on the coast, so the hotel was moved inland and the Honokahua Preservation Site was set aside, a case that helped shape Hawaiʻi’s burial-protection law. The luau runs in the resort’s Aloha Garden Pavilion.
