Feast & Fire is a story-based luau held on the waterfront at the Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa, above Keauhou Bay on the Kona coast. The evening runs 2.5 hours and follows a narrative about Polynesian migration to Hawaiʻi, which gives it more structure than the variety-show format at most Big Island luaus.
Check-in opens at 5pm. The first 45 minutes center on an Artisan Village: lei making, poi pounding demonstrations, ʻOhe Kapala (bamboo stamp printing), and local craft vendors. It’s a genuine pre-show, not just a holding area. Dinner service starts at 6:15pm with a plated entree (seared local catch, kalua pig, lomi salmon, coconut sweet potatoes) plus a family-style first course of tropical fruits, smoked fish dip, and taro chips. The full bar is open throughout: cocktails, wine, beer, and Mai Tais.
The main show begins at 7:15pm. Fire dancers are the visual centerpiece, but the production builds toward them through hula, drumming, and narrated storytelling. When we watched the fire sequence from the bay-facing side of the lawn, the lighting off the water adds to it in a way that doesn’t come through in photos.
Two seating tiers: general seating at $185 per adult ($90 for children 6–12) and Aliʻi private seating at $225 per adult ($120 for children), which puts you closer to the stage. Children 5 and under are free at both tiers.
The show and the story-based format earn consistent praise from people who experience it outdoors. The recurring caveat is the venue policy on rainy nights: when weather turns, shows sometimes relocate indoors, which changes the feel significantly. If the oceanfront setting is part of why you’re choosing this over other options, it’s worth calling ahead on days when weather is uncertain.
Feast & Fire is one of only two luaus on the Kona side and the only one that runs Monday and Thursday: useful if your schedule doesn’t line up with Island Breeze or Voyagers of the Pacific. Unlike most Big Island luaus, it follows a narrative structure built around Polynesian migration to Hawaiʻi, which gives the show more through-line than a standard variety format. At $185 for general seating, it’s mid-range for the island. Best for families and first-timers who want a complete evening (dinner, cultural activities, fire dancing) without the drive to Waikoloa.
